I still remember the day….meeting Derek in Luna Café to discuss starting Crossfit.”

“My love for CrossFit started when the gym was a true garage….Ty’s garage. Derek taught me the fundamentals of lifting and the basics of Crossfit. I have gained confidence in and outside the gym just by learning to push myself and grow beyond my limits. The gym is great people, hard work, and a desire to constantly improve. Packerland is not just about exercise but nutrition and mindset. That is what makes Packerland Crossfit so great!

I am a Registered Nurse, mainly in the hospital setting. Intensive care was my specialty. With this career, I was able to travel to 4 states over a year and a half and work in other ICU’s and found Crossfit gyms to continue to gain strength and endurance (stepping out of my comfort zone). Upon coming home, I have chosen to work in home hospice.

I look forward to each class since it provides a good start to my days off Monday thru Thursday. I feel energized when I complete a challenging workout.”

“That was really my wake up call. I made a commitment to myself to attend PCF 4 days per week for 1 year (only missed 2 weeks via traveling in year 1). I lost over 15#’s and am happy to say I am still not on any medication.

After being involved in PCF for a year, I felt comfortable with Derek’s philosophy and the family atmosphere. I started to have Graham attend 1 on 1 sessions with Derek so he could learn basic lifting movements. Graham ended up loving the workouts and joined PCF when he turned 13. For me as a parent, nothing gives me greater joy than working out with my children.

My advice to someone starting out is to check your ego at the door and buy into the process. If you do that, you will get the results that your hoping for, plus you will meet some pretty amazing people on the same journey you are on.”
